Announcement: Extension of 2024 Income Tax Pay & File Deadline
New ROS Deadline for Income Tax
Revenue has extended the deadline for self-employed individuals and business owners who file online through the Revenue Online Service (ROS). Instead of the usual 31 October deadline, you now have until Thursday, 14 November 2024 to file and pay.
This new date applies if you:
- File your 2023 Form 11 income tax return.
- Pay your preliminary tax for 2024.
- Pay any balance owed for 2023.
You must complete both the filing and payment through ROS to qualify. If you use another method for either, the standard 31 October deadline still applies.
Capital Acquisitions Tax Also Extended
The same 14 November 2024 deadline applies for Capital Acquisitions Tax (CAT) returns and payments. This covers gifts or inheritances with a valuation date on or before 31 August 2024.
Why You Should File Early
While the extension gives you extra time, leaving your tax return until the last minute is risky. Filing early lets you:
- Identify potential tax savings.
- Avoid last-minute technical issues.
- Reduce stress as the deadline approaches.
